Dark pink magnolia? C'est magnifique! In case you're wondering, this (brief) burst of bi-lingualism is in honour of Pierre Magnol, the French botanist after whom these glorious plants were named. Mind you, magnolias had been around long before Pierre began plant hunting. They evolved before bees (apparently beetles performed the pollination process) and date back possibly 95 million years. And ever since humans discovered the beauty of flowers, magnolias have enjoyed exceptional popularity. Which is why these stems look set to become favourites.
