Sometimes called the ground cherry, physalis is a wonderfully decorative shrub. But then you can see that from the photograph. Note too, the attractive husks on the fruit that give rise to this variety (P. alkekengi) being called ‘Chinese lanterns’ or ‘Japanese lanterns’. Look closely, and you’ll also see clusters of intricate autumn rowan berries. Arranged in a glass vase with water illusion resin.
